The UK and the EU: Natural Partners in a Turbulent World?
EUGOV Study Visit to London, 15-16 February 2024

Our MAEIS Applied European Policy and Governance Studies (EUGOV) students travelled up from Canterbury to London for a study visit based around the theme “The UK and the EU: Natural Partners in a Turbulent World?” on 15-16 February 2024.

The packed programme saw them first visit the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, where they learnt about the normalised relations in a more productive phase post-Brexit in a briefing with Nick Heath, Head of Europe Strategy and Expertise Department.

They also had the special opportunity to discuss with the EU Ambassador to the UK Pedro Serrano during a visit to the European External Action Service (EEAS) Delegation in London alongside students from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

The students also got to tackle the various perspectives of EU-UK cooperation after Brexit, international challenges and upcoming elections in both the UK and the EU with Michèle Auga, Director of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung London Office, and Ian Bond, Deputy Director of the Centre for European Reform.

And of course they spent some quality time discovering the British capital city!
