Global Studies Graduation Ceremony in Rome - June 2026
 

Last week, the students of the MAEIS European Integration and Global Studies received their degrees during a festive ceremony held in a restaurant in the historical centre of Rome.
 

The group based in Rome successfully defended their theses and passed the final 'grand oral' exams.
 

Everyone enjoyed the celebrations and family and friends, faculty members and CIFE staff were all in attendance to celebrate the achievements of our students.
 

Matthias Waechter, Director General of CIFE, opened the graduation ceremony by paraphrasing Simone de Beauvoir: "One is not born a European, but one becomes a European." He stated that spending a year at CIFE can be such a transformative experience. Graduates Charlotte Widdowson and Iliana Markaki then reflected upon the year, thanking the CIFE staff and professors on behalf of their class.
 

In true Italian fashion, the graduates wore the traditional Italian laurel crown to mark the occasion.
