Opening reception in the CIFE premises

Start the weekend with our traditional opening reception in the CIFE premises! We have a special anniversary to celebrate as CIFE turns 70 this year! And it is the 10th time that CIFE organises an international Alumni meeting. Beyond these personal anniversaries, it is also World Peace Day on this weekend, so we decided to celebrate under the motto "In Search of Peace on World Peace Day".

Join us for the traditional welcome cocktail to meet old and new friends!

In the presence of members of the CIFE team (Nice, Berlin, Istanbul and Brussels) and invited external lecturers and friends.

Bus tour to Vallauris and introduction to "La Guerre et la Paix"

Jump on the bus for an escape to Vallauris and discover the legendary 'La Guerre et la Paix' in the Musée national Pablo Picasso. Learn more about Picasso's famous paintings on a private tour through the collection and follow an introduction to their historical context.

Picnic in Provencal style

The bus will take us to a lush spot in the green valleys between Vallauris and Nice. Tomato salad, mozzarella and pistou, stuffed vegetables from Nice, pissaladières with caramelised onions, zucchini pies, fresh goat cheese, fig chutney, seasonal fruits, orange blossom biscuits and a glass of rosé ...

Enjoy a copious typical Provencal picnic in good company and relax on a blanket in the sunshine!

After the picnic, the bus will take us back to Nice. Expected arrival time at 15.00 h.

17.00 - 19.00 h

Round Table: Peace and Multilateralism

CIFE was founded upon the federalist ideal of a Europe that promotes peace and democracy in a multilateral world. 2024 marks several important anniversaries of institutions based on these same founding values: The Council of Europe and NATO are celebrating their 75th anniversary. These are also days of remembrance, as it has been 110 years that WWI started and 85 years since the outbreak of WW II. 
In our round table we want to discuss the perspectives for  "Peace and Multilateralism" in the current geopolitical setting.

The speakers of this round table will be confirmed soon.

Cocktail Reception on the Rooftop

Conclude the day with an aperitif on the rooftop. Let's cheer to 70 years of European friendship and to a hopefully more peaceful future! Enjoy the view on the roofs of the Vieux Nice, the Coulée verte and the blue horizon of the Mediterranean and prepare for a lovely evening with plenty of time to exchange with old and new alumni friends.

Dinner

Our traditional dinner takes place in an exceptional setting, on the top floor restaurant of the Hotel Aston La Scala. Enjoy the breathtaking views from the Vieux Nice to the Esterel Mountains and savour chosen Nice specialities in the presence of all CIFE Alumni, CIFE representatives and friends.
