Welcome to Nice: Start of the New Year for the 2025/26 EUGOV and Med Programmes
We’re delighted to be able to welcome our 33 new students of the MAEIS Applied European Policy and Governance Studies (EUGOV) and MAEIS Mediterranean Studies programmes from 15 different countries!
On Monday 6 October, the programme began officially in the presence of all CIFE staff members in Nice, including EUGOV Programme Director Susann Heinecke-Kuhn and Mediterranean Programme Director Jean-Claude Vérez. Our Director General Matthias Waechter gave an insight into the history of CIFE and a panorama of the current geopolitical situation during his introductory speech. It was also the occasion to remind our EUGOV students that they will be the first cohort to spend a trimester in Brussels from January to April 2026.
Classes then began in earnest with a course on Theories and Practice of International Relations in the 20th and 21st Centuries with Susann Heinecke-Kuhn. This was followed by a class with Jean-Claude Vérez on The Global and European Economy.
On Thursday 9 October, both groups will head out on two guided tours of Nice to discover more about the new city they will call home for the next three months.
We look forward to getting to know them more and wish them all the best for the new academic year!
