Visit to the Centre for Liberal Modernity (LibMod) in Berlin

The students of the Master in Advanced European and International Studies - European Policy and Governance - Trilingual Studies programme visited the premises of the Centre for Liberal Modernity (LibMod) in Berlin this week to discuss the EU's Eastern Neighbourhood policy with two of their experts.

The first speaker was Rebecca Harms, a German politician (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen), who was a Member of the European Parliament (MEP), until 2016 as president of the parliamentary group The Greens/European Free Alliance (Greens/EFA) and head of the delegation to the EU-Neighbourhood-East Parliamentary Assembly (EURO-NEST). She is the senior advisor for the project “Eastern Partnership Plus” at the Centre for Liberal Modernity (LibMod).

The second was Khatia Kikalisvili, the programme director for Eastern Partnership at the Centre for Liberal Modernity (LibMod). Prior to joining LibMod, she was a scientific advisor for European and Foreign Policy at the German Bundestag for several years. Her main research areas are the Eastern Partnership, European Integration and German Foreign Policy on Russia and Eastern Europe.

There were fruitful discussions about:
- Perspectives for the accession process of the countries of the Eastern Partnership
- EU cooperation with Russia, the geopolitical dimensions of EU foreign policy, neighbourhood policy and the Eastern Partnership
- The place of civil society and especially the young generation within the Eastern Partnership countries
- European Security Policy and NATO
