New Academic Year for the Energy Master 2025/26

The students of the Master in Global Energy Transition and Governance started classes for the new academic year on Tuesday 7 October.

After an official welcome from the Director General of CIFE, Matthias Waechter, and Programme Director Rachel Guyet, in the presence of CIFE staff based in Nice, the students began the year with courses on Cities and Citizens in the Energy Transition Processes with Rachel Guyet, as well as a Brainstorming Session on Energy.

From geopolitics over the European energy market to climate action: In his inaugural speech, Dominique Ristori, former Director-General at the Directorate-General for Energy (ENER) of the European Commission, outlined an encompassing picture of the challenges ahead for the European Union. He insisted on the urgency for Europe not only to increase its competitiveness in order to cope with the fast development of the United States and China, but also to enhance scientific cooperation and transform knowledge into technologies facilitating energy transition.

The Energy Master aims to give a deep understanding of the complexity of the current energy transformations in Europe and worldwide. With its unique, multidisciplinary approach, the programme analyses the links between the different levels of energy governance, from an international to a local level, offering problem-focused learning at the crossroads of theory and practice. Students sstudy in Nice and in Berlin.
