Start of a New Academic Year in Berlin: Global Studies 2026/27

We’re delighted to introduce our new MAEIS European Integration Global Studies group of 26 students from 18 countries, who began their courses in Berlin this week!

They were welcomed by Director General Matthias Waechter, Programme Director Laurent Baechler and Hartmut Marhold, Senior Research Fellow at CIFE, accompanied by Berlin Coordinator Hanna Zieren and intern Dijedon Biljali, at the Studentendorf in Schlachtensee, which is looking particularly autumnal right now.

The academic year has begun with introductory classes in the World Economy and Emerging Economies with Laurent Baechler and the Rise and Fall of European Imperialism with Matthias Waechter.

In a few weeks, they will also have the opportunity to discover the history of Berlin with a visit "Berlin Between Prussia, War and the Wall" led by Ruth Porstmann, polyspektiv, as well as a guided tour of the Reichstag building.

We look forward to getting to know them more as they move from Berlin to Nice in January, and then to Rome or Istanbul in April!
