Admissions and Application Process
Who can apply to the Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs?
Applicants to the Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs (GEGPA) must:
- Hold an undergraduate degree equivalent to at least three years of university studies (Bachelor’s level or equivalent)
- Demonstrate active knowledge of English
The programme is open to applicants of all nationalities and academic backgrounds.
Can I apply to the Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs before completing my Bachelor’s degree?
Yes. Students who are still completing their undergraduate degree may apply to the Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs (GEGPA).
If you have not yet received your degree certificate or final transcript, you can still submit your application. Your application will be reviewed by the selection committee.
Successful applicants may receive:
- unconditional admission, or
- conditional admission requiring submission of the final degree certificate and/or transcript before the start of the programme in October.

Yes. The Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs (GEGPA) is open to applicants of all nationalities, including students from non-EU countries.

Programme Structure
What makes the Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs unique?
The Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs (GEGPA) combines academic learning with a strong professional orientation, bringing together theory and practice.
The programme has three core characteristics:
- International: students come from all over the world, creating a diverse learning environment
- Interdisciplinary: applicants from all academic backgrounds are welcome
- Itinerant: students live and study in three different countries during one academic year: Rome, Italy; Berlin, Germany; Nice, France. They also benefit from a one-week study trip to the international organisations in either Bonn, Germany or Geneva, Switzerland.
The Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs (GEGPA) prepares students for both academic and professional careers in international and European affairs.
Where do students study during the Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs?
The Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs (GEGPA) is a multi-city programme. Students learn and live in three different countries throughout the academic year:
- Term 1 in Rome, Italy with our partner Luiss School of Government
- Term 2 in Berlin, Germany
- Term 3 in Nice, France
Students also take part in a one-week study trip to either Bonn, Germany or Geneva, Switzerland.
How is the travelling between the study locations organised?
Travelling between the study locations is organised by the students themselves. However, travel during the study trip to Bonn or Geneva is organised and covered by CIFE and Luiss School of Government.
Where are courses held during the Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs?
The courses of the Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs (GEGPA) are taught at CIFE teaching locations (e.g. Nice) and on the campus of CIFE’s partner university, namely:
- In Rome, on the campus of the Luiss School of Government
- In Berlin, in CIFE’s premises
- In Nice, in CIFE’s premises
This international structure allows students to study directly within different European academic environments.
In which languages are courses taught in the Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs?
Courses in the Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs are taught fully in English. Applicants are therefore expected to have active proficiency in English.
Proof of language proficiency includes:
- A recent certificate from a language institute (e.g. IELTS, TOEFL, BULATS, British Council)
- A certificate from an Anglophone university confirming at least one academic year of study in English
Exemptions:
- Applicants from majority English-speaking countries, or
- Applicants who have completed a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in an Anglophone university
- may be exempt from submitting a language certificate
- Other exemptions may be granted case-by-case with supporting documentation
What qualifications do graduates receive from the Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs?
Graduates of the Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs (GEGPA) programme receive three complementary qualifications upon successful completion.
First, they are awarded two diplomas "Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs" from CIFE and the Luiss School of Government, corresponding to 60 ECTS credits at Master level.
In addition, they obtain the professional qualification “Policy Officer in European and International Organisations”, which is officially recognised by the French state. This certification is registered at RNCP level 7, equivalent to a Master’s degree (EQF level 7) within the European Qualifications Framework.
Tuition Fees and Scholarships
What are the tuition fees for the Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs?
The tuition fees for the Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs amount to €11,000 for the full academic year.
Does CIFE offer scholarships for the Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs?
CIFE does not directly offer scholarships nor student loans to our Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs (GEGPA) students. That said, we understand that financing the programme is a concern for many of our applicants and try to offer support in the following ways:
- Sharing resources and connecting students with Alumni who were successful in applying for scholarships in the past
- Supporting your funding applications with any necessary documents (i.e. Proof of admission or enrollment, etc.)
Accommodation
How is accommodation organised during the Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs?
Accommodation during the Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs (GEGPA) is not included in the tuition fees.
We share information and resources to support our students to secure housing in all three programme locations:
- During the Rome term, the Luiss School of Government has special agreements with private student residences near its campuses and has established several agreements with online intermediary platforms and local real estate agencies to assist students in finding private rooms and apartments.
- For the Berlin and Nice terms, CIFE has partnered with student residences to offer a limited number of rooms at an affordable rate to students.
Accommodation during the one-week long study trip in either Bonn or Geneva is organised by CIFE and Luiss for all students. These accommodation costs are included in the tuition fees.
Internships and Careers
What careers does the Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs prepare for?
The Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs (GEGPA) prepares students for careers requiring expertise in European relations, international cooperation and policy-making, such as in:
- European institutions
- International organisations
- National diplomacy and public administration
- NGOs and the humanitarian sector
- Consulting, research and the private sector
Is the “Policy Officer in European and International Organisations” certification officially recognised?
Yes. The “Policy Officer in European and International Organisations” certification is officially recognised by the French state.
The certification is registered in the French Répertoire National des Certifications Professionnelles (RNCP) at level 7, which corresponds to a Master’s degree level within the European Qualifications Framework (EQF level 7).
Students receive this professional qualification alongside their Master’s degree.
The certification confirms that graduates have acquired practical and professional skills relevant to careers in European and international organisations.
Does the Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs include an internship?
An internship is not mandatory to graduate from the Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs (GEGPA).
However, many of our students do pursue internships, usually starting in June or July after the lecture period has ended. We support students professional development through personal career coaching and industry-specific information sessions throughout the academic year, as well as connecting students with our CIFE network of alumni and experts.
In previous years, Alumni secured internships at institutions such as the European Investment Bank, the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, the Centre for European Policy and the European Commission as part of the Blue Book Traineeship.
