We’re delighted to introduce the 30 participants in our newly launched digital campus, EU*WeBalkansConnect!
They are communications professionals, journalists, civil society representatives, young professionals and advanced students from France, Germany, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia. For the next six weeks, they’ll work together on communication projects about EU enlargement to the Western Balkans.
The participants will take online courses covering:
- The history of European integration
- The political contexts of the Western Balkans, France and Germany
- Franco-German reconciliation
- EU enlargement methodology and negotiation chapters
- The rule of law and democratic standards
- Economic convergence and governance
- The EU’s global role and security policy
- Political communication and narratives around enlargement
- Media literacy and societal polarisation
The programme will conclude with a weekend workshop in Nice at the end of October.
We launched the programme this week with representatives of all the project partners. Matthias Waechter, CIFE’s Director General, welcomed the participants alongside Pascale Trimbach-Rognon, Secretary-General of the Franco-German Youth Office, and Selena Tasic Stevanic and Stanislava Marojević – Public Diplomacy Manager and Community Manager at WEglobal respectively – representing WeBalkans. Tanja Elend, Project Manager at CIFE, moderated the welcome session and led a lively round of introductions. It was a chance to hear about the participants’ varied professional backgrounds, interests and languages – and their curiosity about one another’s countries.
