Manuel Knapp European Communication

Manuel Knapp is Director of Studies at the European Academy Berlin, where he designs and leads educational programmes with a focus on European communication, international relations, and public diplomacy. He holds a Master’s degree in European Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in History and Economics.
His professional background combines hands-on experience in European political communication and public diplomacy with an analytical perspective on European integration processes. He has worked in research-informed policy contexts in Switzerland, Belgium, and Germany, and has developed transnational learning formats at the intersection of civic education and international cooperation.
Since 2019, he has been a member of the European Commission’s expert network “Team Europe Germany”, contributing to the public dissemination of European policy topics through lectures and dialogue-based formats. His research interests include the role of narratives and legitimacy in EU communication, cross-border civil society engagement, and the democratic implications of public diplomacy. He has a particular interest in the respecitve relationships between actors in Switzerland, Scotland, and Germany and the European Union.
He is an alumnus of the German-British Young Königswinter Programme and has contributed to initiatives that were recognised by the State of Berlin for their innovative approach to European civic engagement (Blauer Bär).
