Admissions and Application Process

Who can apply to the Master in Advanced European and International Studies - European Integration and Global Studies?


Applicants to the Master in Advanced European and International Studies - European Integration and Global Studies (EUGOV) must:

  • Hold an undergraduate degree equivalent to at least three years of university studies (Bachelor’s level or equivalent)
  • Demonstrate active knowledge of English

The programme is open to applicants of all nationalities and academic backgrounds.


Can I apply to the Master in Advanced European and International Studies - European Integration and Global Studies before completing my Bachelor’s degree?


Yes. Students who are still completing their undergraduate degree may apply to the Master in Advanced European and International Studies - European Integration and Global Studies.

If you have not yet received your degree certificate or final transcript, you can still submit your application. Your application will be reviewed by the selection committee.

Successful applicants may receive:

  • unconditional admission, or
  • conditional admission requiring submission of the final degree certificate and/or transcript before the start of the programme in October.

The programme has three core characteristics:

  1. International: students come from all over the world, creating a diverse learning environment

  3. Itinerant: students live and study in three different countries during one academic year: Berlin, Germany; Nice, France; either Rome, Italy or Istanbul, Türkiye. They also benefit from a one-week study trip to the European institutions and international organisations in Brussels, Belgium, Luxembourg, Luxembourg and Strasbourg, France.

The Master in Advanced European and International Studies - European Integration and Global Studies prepares students for both academic and professional careers in international and European affairs.


Where do students study during the Master in Advanced European and International Studies - European Integration and Global Studies?


The Master in Advanced European and International Studies - European Integration and Global Studies is a multi-city programme. Students learn and live in three different countries throughout the academic year:

  • Term 1 in Berlin, Germany
  • Term 2 in Nice, France
  • Term 3 in either Rome, Italy or Istanbul, Türkiye

Students also take part in a one-week study trip to Brussels, Belgium, Luxembourg, Luxembourg and Strasbourg, France.

Students move together as a cohort between these locations during the academic year.


How is the travelling between the study locations organised?


Travelling between the study locations is organised and covered by CIFE. Students move together as a cohort between Berlin, Nice and either Rome or Istanbul at the end of each term, as well as during the study trip to Brussels, Luxembourg and Strasbourg. All programme-related travel costs are included in the tuition fees.


Where are courses held during the Master in Advanced European and International Studies - European Integration and Global Studies?


The courses of the Master in Advanced European and International Studies - European Integration and Global Studies are taught at CIFE teaching locations (e.g. Nice) and on the campuses of CIFE’s partner universities, namely:

  • In Berlin, in CIFE’s premises and at the Studentendorf Schlachtensee student residence
  • In Nice, in CIFE’s premises
  • In Rome, on the campus of the Luiss School of Government
  • In Istanbul, on the campus of our partner

This international structure allows students to study directly within different European academic environments.


In which languages are courses taught in the Master in Advanced European and International Studies - European Integration and Global Studies?


Courses in the Master in Advanced European and International Studies - European Integration and Global Studies are taught fully in English. Applicants are therefore expected to have active proficiency in English.

Proof of language proficiency includes:

  • A recent certificate from a language institute (e.g. IELTS, TOEFL, BULATS, British Council)
  • A certificate from an Anglophone university confirming at least one academic year of study in English

Exemptions:

  • Applicants from majority English-speaking countries, or
  • Applicants who have completed a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in an Anglophone university
    • may be exempt from submitting a language certificate
  • Other exemptions may be granted case-by-case with supporting documentation

What qualifications do graduates receive from the Master in Advanced European and International Studies - European Integration and Global Studies?


Graduates of the Master in Advanced European and International Studies - European Integration and Global Studies programme receive two complementary qualifications upon successful completion.

First, they are awarded the Master in Advanced European and International Studies (MAEIS) from CIFE, corresponding to 60 ECTS credits at Master level.

In addition, they obtain the professional qualification “Policy Officer in European and International Organisations”, which is officially recognised by the French state. This certification is registered at RNCP level 7, equivalent to a Master’s degree (EQF level 7) within the European Qualifications Framework.



Tuition Fees and Scholarships

What are the tuition fees for the Master in Advanced European and International Studies - European Integration and Global Studies?


The tuition fees for the Master in Advanced European and International Studies - European Integration and Global Studies amount to €9,800 for the full academic year.


Does CIFE offer scholarships for the Master in Advanced European and International Studies - European Integration and Global Studies?


Yes. Students may apply for scholarships to help cover living expenses. They may also apply for a tuition fee reduction upon presentation of proof of financial resources.

Some scholarships are offered by external organisations depending on the applicant’s nationality. These external scholarships are not managed by CIFE, and applicants must contact the organisations directly.


Who is eligible for a CIFE scholarship?


To be considered for a CIFE scholarship, applicants must:

  • meet all admission requirements
  • demonstrate strong motivation for the programme
  • show that they are unable to obtain sufficient financial support from other sources

Applicants of all nationalities may apply for CIFE financial aid.



Accommodation

How is accommodation organised during the Master in Advanced European and International Studies - European Integration and Global Studies?


Accommodation arrangements during the Master in Advanced European and International Studies - European Integration and Global Studies depend on the study location.

The programme is divided into three terms: term 1 in Berlin, term 2 in Nice and term 3 in either Rome or Istanbul.

  • In Berlin, accommodation is organised by CIFE for all students at a student residence and is covered by the tuition fees.
  • In Nice, students arrange their own accommodation. However, CIFE provides housing guidance and offers limited dormitory places for international students through a partner student residence (international students can reach out to the student service for more information).
  • In Rome or Istanbul, students arrange their own accommodation. CIFE provides guidance and support in finding housing.

Accommodation during the one-week long study trip in Brussels, Luxembourg and Strasbourg is organised by CIFE for all students. These accommodation costs are included in the tuition fees.

Is the “Policy Officer in European and International Organisations” certification officially recognised?


Yes. The “Policy Officer in European and International Organisations” certification is officially recognised by the French state.

The certification is registered in the French Répertoire National des Certifications Professionnelles (RNCP) at level 7, which corresponds to a Master’s degree level within the European Qualifications Framework (EQF level 7).

Students receive this professional qualification alongside their Master’s degree.

The certification confirms that graduates have acquired practical and professional skills relevant to careers in European and international organisations.


Does the Master in Advanced European and International Studies - European Integration and Global Studies include an internship?


The Master in Advanced European and International Studies - European Integration and Global Studies includes an optional internship of 3 to 6 months, which must be completed by 31 December following the academic year of the programme. This internship allows students to earn an additional 30 ECTS if they submit an internship report.
