Mr Khemaies Jhinaoui, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tunisia, received Dr Matthias Waechter, Director General of the Centre international de formation européenne (CIFE) on April5, 2018. The prospects for cooperation with this training and research institution were at the centre of this meeting.

Dr Waechter indicated that CIFE, with its long experience in the countries of the Eastern Neighbourhood and in the candidate countries for EU membership, could provide training for Tunisian officials in areas where the Centre has recognised expertise, particularly in the functioning of the European institutions and decision-making processes within the EU.

While thanking his interlocutor for his interest in Tunisia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs informed his interlocutor that the issue of continuing training of Tunisian diplomats is a priority for the Department. 

In this context, he stressed that cooperation on training and studies could be envisaged with CIFE, in particular with the future Diplomatic Academy, which will be operational around 2020 and will have both a Mediterranean and an African regional vocation.
