CIFE’s transnational research projects have developed through close cooperation between CIFE researchers and partners at higher education institutions and think tanks in Europe and beyond. Most prominent research projects of the last years include two projects funded through the EU’s Horizon 2020 Research & Innovation Programme - FEUTURE (2016-2019) and SEnECA (2018-2019)  - as well as the PhD Support Programme EUCACIS (2016-2020). The latter was co-funded by the Volkswagen Foundation based in Hannover, Germany.

FEUTURE explored the range of different options for further EU-Turkey cooperation in the next decade by analysing drivers of cooperation within six thematic dimensions (politics, security, economics, energy, migration, identity) and across four levels of analysis (EU, Turkey, neighbourhood, global).

SEnECA aimed at strengthening EU-Central Asia relations by improving research cooperation and capacities in research and policy advice in both regions.

EUCACIS was a PhD support programme for doctoral students from Central Asia and the Southern Caucasus. It offered the fellows the opportunity to visit and co-organize international scientific conferences, attend PhD schools and research training stays in the target regions as well as receive support with finalizing their PhD projects.

All research results and further information on the projects can be accessed below.
